Summer in Israel: a self-portrait

The Hebrew written in the black and white portrait above is from Genesis 22:17: 17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his[a] enemies

The words above are headlines from this summer.

The rest I will leave to the viewer’s interpretation. Look at this portrait. What do you see? Leave your comments below.

The first thing that comes to mind is that the person in the picture is covering their ears from the siren wailing. Wow, does that tell you about how this summer went or what? And I’m not even in Israel!

I also see someone shutting their ears and not wanting to hear something. I am thinking it is someone tired of hearing the news, and the disconnect between the news and the promise. Trying to make sense of the background. Mountains along the sea? Sand castles?
